PM launches Nationwide Ehsaas Education Stipends Program
The PM launches Nationwide Ehsaas Education Stipends Program was officially launched on September 1, 2021, in Islamabad by Prime Minister Imran Khan. In her presentation, Dr. Sania Nishtar informed him about the countrywide rollout of EhSaas Education Stipends for students enrolled in primary, intermediate, and higher secondary education. The program provides stipends to children between the ages of 4 and 22 years, i.e., from primary to higher secondary education.
The government’s policy of weighting stipends in favor of girls across all age groups for all conditional cash transfer programs, known as Ehsaas, signifies the government’s intention to support girls’ education by providing a greater stipend across all age groups. PM launches Nationwide Ehsaas Education Stipends Program of Rs. 1,500 per quarter for boy children and Rs. 2,000 per quarter for girl children are granted to primary school children. Secondary school students receive Ehsaas Education Stipends of Rs. 2,500 per quarter for males and Rs. 3,000 per quarter for girls as part of their education.
The government provides Rs. 3,500 per quarter for males and Rs. 4,000 per quarter for girls studying at the higher secondary level. Families will be more likely to send their children to school if they participate in the PM launches Nationwide Ehsaas Education Stipends Program, which offers a bigger incentive for girls than for boys. In order to encourage girls to complete primary school, Ehsaas offers an Rs. 3,000 one-time graduation incentives as part of its Education Stipends program, which is funded by the government. The initiative is currently in action in 160 districts across the country.
