Eligibility Criteria and Experience
Education Advanced university degree in relevant social sciences, gender studies, public health, or international development is required.
At least 8 years of strong technical and analytical skills in gender, research, and the ability to assist countries, particularly with gender assessments or reviews and the incorporation of gender equality into strategic planning processes.
Required Qualifications
Practical experience with gender issues and programmatic knowledge of social transformation are essential.
Experience designing training materials, delivering training, and building related capacities for gender equality programme in order to achieve transformative results.
A track record of developing tools, guidelines, and technical assistance for gender transformational programming in specific industries.
Extensive knowledge of using gender evidence to inform and implement programme design, monitoring, and evaluation.
Strong analytical skills in gender programme design and evaluation, ideally at the national level. It is advantageous to have prior GPR experience.
In-country experience is desirable, particularly for Southeast Asian countries.
Previous programme planning experience with UNICEF or another UN agency is preferred.
Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, as well as written and verbal English communication

Individuals employed under consulting or individual contracts are not covered by the United Nations Staff Regulations and Rules, nor are they eligible for the benefits described therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage).
Their terms of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and independent contractors are required by municipal or other applicable laws to calculate their tax liabilities and pay any taxes and/or charges.
The selected candidate is solely responsible for ensuring that all necessary health insurance and visas are in place for the duration of the contract, if applicable. The World Health Organization (WHO) has approved a vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19), and applicants who are chosen must provide proof of vaccination before beginning their assignment.
It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and will not be required to travel to fulfil duties for UNICEF while their consultation contracts are in effect, work on or visit UNICEF facilities, programme delivery sites, or directly engage with the communities with which UNICEF works.
All selected candidates will be expected to uphold these standards and principles, and will thus be subjected to extensive reference and background checks.
Verification of academic credentials and employment history will be included in background checks.
Selected candidates may be required to provide additional information in order for a background check to be conducted.
