The Federal Government of Pakistan has launched the Student Loan Scheme (SLS) in partnership with five major commercial banks: NBP, HBL, UBL, MCB, and ABL. The Nawai-e-Waqt daily issued an advertisement for a student loan scheme today (29 May 2022). The deadline for application submission is July 29, 2022. The SLS’s major goal is to provide financial help to deserving students who are facing financial difficulties while completing their studies in Pakistan’s scientific, technical, and professional fields. Student Loan Scheme 2022 Eligibility Criteria

Male and female students who scored at least 70% in the last public test but are unable to continue their studies owing to financial constraints are eligible to apply for the Student Loan Scheme 2022. Furthermore, he/she has been accepted on merit into accredited public universities/colleges following usual course/procedure. At the time of entrance, he or she is between the ages of:

Not more than 21 years old at the time of graduation

Not more than 31 years after graduation

Not more than 36 years for a Ph.D.

How to Pay Off Your Student Loans in 2022

The maximum repayment time for the loan is ten years from the date of the first installment’s disbursement. After six months from the date of starting job or one year from the date of completion of education, the borrower must repay the loan in monthly instalments.

How to Apply for the 2022 Student Loan Scheme (1) Students who wish to apply for a loan under the Scheme should do so using the prescribed form, which may be downloaded from the National Bank of Pakistan’s website at www.nbp.com.pk/studentloan
